Satchi Metaxas is an intern from Berkeley, CA who will be a freshman at UCLA.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I am an Honors student at UCLA, planning to be on the pre-med track and minor in journalism or creative writing. I was born and raised in Berkeley, graduated from Berkeley High in June, and will be moving to LA in the Fall. I have played soccer all my life and am currently recovering from ankle surgery. I am also an aspiring surfer and guitarist, looking forward to the waves and music scene in LA! During high school, I worked with some incredible non-profits: Best Buddies, Prisoners Literature Project, and Camp Kesem. Now, I feel lucky to have the opportunity to learn about and promote other outstanding organizations in my area.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/div>\n
When my mom passed away from cancer in 2012, my reality was rocked to the core. Only the love and support I received from my dad, as well as friends and counselors at Camp Kesem, helped me grow from the experience. I owe so much to the generosity of others and I believe in paying forward that service, through volunteering and through publicizing the work of my favorite non-profit organizations in my community.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/div>\n
